Football players for war: Profutbol Digital told the story of goalkeeper Sviatoslav Syrota

Sports digital projects of 1+1 media, one of the largest media holdings in Eastern Europe, continue to tell about athletes who, from the first days of Russia's unjustified war against Ukraine, replaced their usual training bases and sports grounds with the front line in order to win the main Victory as part of the Armed Forces for every Ukrainian.

A new video interview was released on the " P profutbol Digita l " channel, the protagonist of which was the former player of "Dynamo Kyiv" and "Dnipro" Svyatoslav Syrota. Svyatoslav spent more than 2 months in the war, of which 33 days he was on the front line. He had to experience the consequences of the ruthless actions of the Russian occupiers. Thus, while defending the Motherland, he was seriously wounded during fierce battles for Luhansk region, and now the athlete is undergoing rehabilitation.

Svyatoslav Syrota told Volodymyr Zverov, a journalist of the "Profootball Digital" project, about the horrors of war, his rescue and life at the front.

"There were cases when we were out of touch for 5-7 days. When I finally managed to call my relatives, my wife couldn't even talk, she just cried," Svyatoslav shared frankly.

Exvorotar recalled the same day when he was wounded:

"I was in the dugout. There was a flash, after which the ears immediately stopped. Everything resembled a slow-motion movie. When I was replaced, I tried to get to another place. He fell several times, then he lay down and could no longer get up."

Svyatoslav Syrota was born on October 1, 1970 in Kyiv. In 1994, he graduated from the football department of the Ukrainian State University of Physical Education and Sports. At the professional level, he played for such football clubs as: "Dynamo", "Veres", "Dnipro".
