Social campaign PLUSPLUS, Ministry of Environment and UNDP to reduce the use of plastic bags
The Ministry of Environment noted that plastic bags and products are a real environmental disaster for the planet. "A few minutes of use entail hundreds of years of decomposition of such waste in the environment. More and more countries are focusing on this problem and limiting the use of plastic by citizens in everyday life. Plastic bags pollute the land and water, animals die from them, and they are also dangerous for human health. By deploying the all-Ukrainian social campaign #ПакетНеПотрибен, the Ministry of Environment, together with PLUSPLUS and UNDP, strives for every Ukrainian to think about how much we need plastic bags, and for children to get used to the right ecological habits and understand the importance of preserving nature from an early age."
The permanent representative of UNDP in Ukraine, Dafina Gercheva , noted that this social campaign corresponds to the key mission of UNDP — promoting sustainable development in Ukraine and around the world.
"The UN study showed that a huge amount of plastic enters the Black Sea from Ukrainian rivers, " said Ms. Gercheva . — We all regularly use plastic packaging, but it is not the only choice available to us - because there are many ecological alternatives. The goal of this social campaign is to raise the awareness of Ukrainians that everyone can take some steps that will contribute to building a more sustainable future."
In December 2020, PLUSPLUS TV channel agreed to cooperate with UNDP to promote sustainable development, clean energy and environmental values. And on March 17, 2021, the Ministry of the Environment and PLUSPLUS TV channel signed a Memorandum of Cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the social campaign #ПакетНеПотрибен.
