Statement of the TV channel 1+1 in response to the appeal of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language

In response to the appeal   The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language regarding non-observance by three TV channels, including the 1+1 TV channel, of the mandatory part of the state language, the TV channel declares that this information is completely untrue. 1+1 complies with current legislation and, in particular, the Law of Ukraine "On Television and Radio Broadcasting".

The internal monitoring service of 1+1 strictly monitors compliance with language quotas. The figure of 70.9% given in the Commissioner's appeal regarding the duration of programs and films performed in the state language on TV channel 1+1 during the monitoring period is unreliable. In the specified week, the 1+1 TV channel carried out broadcasting within the established quota of 75%, namely, 78.5% of the content was broadcast in Ukrainian.

Fulfilling the requirements of the current Law, especially in the conditions of the coronavirus epidemic, when the filming process is complicated, and budgets are redistributed to comply with epidemic norms, is a difficult task. However, the TV channel has never violated the law and is appealing to the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language with a demand to substantiate the given figures and refute its statement.
