On 10-11 September, Kyiv hosts the first Ukrainian Film Academy Conference and the Golden Dzyga Film Awards.
On 10-11 September, the first Annual Conference of the Ukrainian Film Academy will take place in Kyiv, where the Eighth National Film Award ‘Golden Dzyga’ will be presented.
The purpose of the Conference is to provide the general public with an opportunity to learn more about Ukrainian cinema, its history, present and prospects, as well as to unite the Ukrainian film industry. It is a new platform for discussing topical issues of Ukrainian cinema development, a place for representatives of various film industry sectors to meet and communicate to establish cooperation and exchange experience.
The main focus of the two-day Conference is to discuss practical and financial aspects of production, distribution and analysis of case studies from Ukrainian filmmakers. Participants will discuss, among other things, film investment, alternative sources of financing and partnerships, analyse cross-sectoral cases and provide as much practical knowledge as possible for aspiring filmmakers.
The Ukrainian Film Academy Conference will end with the Eighth Golden Dzyga National Film Award ceremony.
‘When creating the Conference programme, we focused on creating an opportunity to meet colleagues in a professional environment where we can discuss practical issues and market trends, investments in cinema, new partnerships. And also to see each other in person and, of course, to learn the names of the Golden Jig winners. We have put together an extremely interesting programme for the panels, which focuses on practical cases and analysis of colleagues‘ experience,’ says Olga Beskhmelnytska, Head of the Board of the Ukrainian Film Academy.
‘We are very grateful to the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation for the opportunity to launch an important event for the Ukrainian film industry - the Annual Conference of the Ukrainian Film Academy. This Conference has the potential to become a powerful platform for sharing experiences, ideas and finding ways to develop our sector,’ adds Anna Machukh, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Film Academy.
