On 24 August 2023, 1+1 media, together with the Greening of Ukraine charity foundation, started planting trees in memory of children whose lives were cut short by war. The initiative was symbolically named "The Grove of Children's Dreams". In the town of Vytachiv, Kyiv region, the first tree was planted on Ukraine's Independence Day in memory of 6-year-old Sofia Golynska, who died on 19 August as a result of a rocket attack on the centre of Chernihiv. The girl's parents, Olha and Oleksandr, were present at the planting of the personalised tree, and thus laid the foundation for a large-scale all-Ukrainian movement. Over the years, the project's official website has received more than 50 applications for planting trees in memory of children whose lives were taken by Russia during its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In total, the organisers plan to plant more than 500 Paradise apple trees in Makariv and thousands more throughout Ukraine.
