"Media literacy today is both a trend and a necessity. We understand that after 24 February 2022, the amount of disinformation spread by Russia against Ukraine has increased tenfold. Therefore, the best basis to help everyone protect themselves from enemy influence operations is the basic rules of information hygiene, which will be taught in the new educational project," commented Olha Zakharova, Strategic Marketing Director at 1+1 media.
The project "How to Protect Yourself from Fakes and Disinformation" will be implemented in the format of a dialogue, where the host and an expert guest discuss specific topics on media literacy. The series will be hosted by Svyatoslav Hrynchuk, host of TSN and the United News marathon. He will moderate conversations with experts and ask them questions on the topic. The project's speakers are: Diana Dutsyk, executive director of the Ukrainian Institute of Media and Communication, Vadym Miskyi, programme director of the NGO Detector Media, Olha Yurkova, co-founder of the StopFake project, Ihor Rozkladai, deputy director and chief media law expert at the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law, Myroslava Markova, junior analyst at VoxCheck, and Svitlana Slipchenko, VoxCheck expert.
The educational series will provide viewers with practical media and information literacy skills that should become part of their lives in a full-scale war, as well as explain how to navigate the information around them and recognise disinformation and propaganda.
The series will be implemented on the Diia. Education platform and on the platforms of 1+1 media and partners.
