1+1 media and singer MONATIK made a dream come true for a boy whose father and grandfather were killed during the occupation of Mariupol
As part of the Make a Dream Come True charity project, the 1+1 media team continues to make the wishes of children whose childhood was taken away by the great war come true.
This time, the team joined the dream of a ward of the Children of Heroes charity foundation, 14-year-old Andriy Degtyarev, whose father and grandfather were killed during the shelling of the temporarily occupied Mariupol.
Thanks to the charity project, the boy was able to meet his idol, the artist MONATIK. The meeting took place in the singer's hometown of Lutsk, which Andriy had wanted to visit for a long time, as he loves travelling around Ukraine. Besides, seeing the famous Lubart's castle and the panorama of the city was another of his wishes.
Dmytro was happy to meet his admirer, presented the schoolboy with symbolic gifts, including his own "Book of Dreams", and invited the fan to his next concert in Lutsk, which will take place on 31 May in the same Lubart's castle.
"If getting to know me has become a dream, then this is a great achievement for me. I believe in dreams. And I would like to share this belief with others. It's a good, right charge," adds MONATIK.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Andriy and his family lived in the occupied city of Mariupol for several months. The family was forced to hide in the basement, as it was the only safe place from massive shelling. During another attack, while searching for food for the family, Andriy's father and grandfather were killed by multiple injuries. Despite the events he has experienced, the boy does not stop dreaming and wants to visit the United States of America.
"Every child has the right to happiness, so our foundation does its best to give it to its wards. We believe that together we can overcome any difficulties and provide these children with the happy future they deserve. The goal of the Children of Heroes CF is not only to help them with their basic needs, but also to give them the opportunity to live a full life, fulfil their dreams and find their place in the world," says Tatiana Novitskaya, CEO of the Children of Heroes CF.
You can learn more about the boy's personal story and the fulfilment of his dream in the episode of the Closer to the Stars project, which airs every Sunday at 9:00 on TET TV channel, by following this link.
