1+1 media passes the "Relay of Good" to Syngenta

On February 20, 2017, on the World Day of Social Justice, the 1+1 media company launched the "Relay of Good" corporate challenge. During the year, the project implemented 18 volunteer activities for those who needed help. And now it's time to pass the baton on, so that the initiative is supported by other socially responsible companies, and the number of good deeds in Ukraine grows.

A year ago, the media group started a corporate volunteering project, in which each unit chose a certain good cause, implemented it for two weeks, shared the results in a short video, and passed the baton to another team of colleagues. This created a certain excitement, because no one knew who would be next in this chain.

Top managers led by Oleksandr Tkachenko, CEO of the media group, were the first to participate in the project. They overhauled the children's meeting room with their parents at the Kyiv Children's Infectious Disease Hospital and planted roses on the territory of the hospital. In addition, the wall in the reception area of the intensive care unit was painted according to the author's sketch of the art director of the PLUSPLUS TV channel.

Next, the "Relay of Good" went to the Kyiv boarding house for labor veterans, the Main Military Clinical Hospital of Kyiv, the Specialized Children's Home of the Kyiv region (Boyarka), the animal shelter "Sirius", the social care center "Father's House", the Kyiv regional social center "Mata and the child together", Kyiv Military Lyceum named after I. Bohun, City Blood Center (Kyiv), rehabilitation shelter for bears "White Rock". Volunteers also held educational and cultural events for young people with disabilities.

"I am grateful to the guys for clearing the forest on the territory of the boarding house, laying new paths for walking, providing us with building materials for further repairs. And I thank the girls for cleaning the dining room and living room," says Oleksandr Konyakhin, director of the Kyiv boarding house for labor veterans.

During 246 hours of corporate volunteering, the media group implemented 18 good deeds, which made it possible to help people and animals to whom life sent trials. During the year, volunteer assistants were united by "social team building", which, in turn, had a huge positive impact on both the company's employees and the community.

"We are happy that the initiative ignited the entire company, that each team implemented its ideas, but within the framework of a large joint project. We are sure that together we can do more, we just need a little push sometimes. And we want to give this impetus to the company Syngenta, with which, as members of the "CSR Development" Center, we have been developing corporate social responsibility in Ukraine for many years. We hope that they will support this initiative and pass the baton to the next company in a month," says Svitlana Paveletska, PR director of 1+1 media.
