139 Veterans From all Over Ukraine Took Part in the International Competition Strong Spirit's Games in Bukovel
On September 14, 2024, the National Selection of War Veterans for the international competition "Strong Spirit's Games" was held in the "Bukovel" TC "Strongman Federation of Ukraine" NGO together with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and in partnership with the "Bukovel" TC.
139 veterans from 20 regions of Ukraine took part in the event!
The event was attended by: Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine - Nataliya Kalmykova, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine - Ruslana Velychko-Trifonyuk, Honorary President of the FSU, People's Deputy of Ukraine - Vasyl Virastyuk and representatives of Ivano-Frankivsk OVA
"Sport is the best means and tool for the resocialization of a veteran into civilian life. And we are grateful to TC Bukovel for the general partnership support of such important initiatives for society," said the President of the Strongman Federation, Serhiy Konyushok.
Athletes competed in adaptive sports: bench press (maximum and times), rowing on a simulator (100 m and 100 sec), kettlebell jerk, airbike 50 kcal.
Also, today a record was set in rowing 100 seconds - 610 m - by veteran athlete from Kyiv - Serhii Stratiychuk.
As the participant of the competition, veteran Ilya Hayduk, noted, "such competitions are very important. Going to the result, training, we are all in a circle of like-minded people and have strong support. For us, life acquires meaning!"
Based on the results of this selection, the commission will select 50 members of the national team, which is the largest number of Ukrainian veterans who will participate in international competitions. The Federation, with the assistance and support of the Ministry of Veterans and partners, for the first time in history, is organizing the international competition for war veterans Strong Spirit's Games, which will be held on October 11-13 in Madrid, as part of the Arnold Schwarzenegger Festival. Ukraine will be the initiator of these competitions at the international level and will invite veterans from NATO countries to participate - this is a strategic step in the development of the field of sports rehabilitation of war veterans in Ukraine and the world.
