27 years together: "Breakfast with 1+1" celebrates anniversary with a special episode featuring stories from hosts and team
A special episode of the "About Cinema for You" project dedicated to the anniversary of "Breakfast with 1+1" has been released on the Kyivstar TV film and television platform. It is available for free viewing.
The morning show "Breakfast with 1+1" is celebrating its 27th anniversary and to mark this occasion, Kyivstar TV has prepared a special episode where Volodymyr Rabchun interviews key figures from the project — hosts, correspondents, editors and the producer. They share memories of their first steps in the program, discuss the challenges faced during broadcasts after the start of the full-scale invasion and reveal what "Breakfast with 1+1" means to them.
The episode begins with a heartfelt conversation with Kostyantyn and Vladyslava Hrybych — father and daughter, who share a common bond through their work on the morning show. Kostyantyn, who was a host of "Breakfast with 1+1" in 2006-2007 and now, talked about how the project has evolved over two decades and how their home was used to shoot a report for the program when Vladyslava was just three years old. Now working as a correspondent for "Breakfast," she notes that this program has become a way of life for her.
"It’s about values, rhythm, a desire to reach for the lively, the bright, what we lack. For inspiration, harmony — emotions that few can truly experience now. I want “Breakfast” to cultivate these emotions in the viewer," Vladyslava says.
Volodymyr Rabchun also invited Ruslan Senichkin and Lyudmyla Barbir — the long-standing TV couple who have been working together for a record number of years — 11. In an open discussion, they shared their experience of adapting to working together and their thoughts on the secret of "Breakfast with 1+1"'s success, which has remained popular for 27 years. The project has become an integral part of their lives, with which they have grown and continue to move forward.
Similar emotions were shared by another host pair — Nelya Shovkoplyas and Yehor Hordeev. Nelya talked about her journey from being a student at 1+1 Media School to becoming a host of "Breakfast with 1+1," which was a significant milestone in her professional development. Yehor added, "Breakfast is an ecosystem, the strength of which few fully understand".
The highlight of the episode was a conversation with Yuliya Zhmakina — the project’s producer and director of the morning broadcasting department at 1+1 media. She discussed the strategic decisions that have helped "Breakfast with 1+1" stay relevant even during the war. She also shared her vision for the program’s future, noting that for her, "Breakfast with 1+1" is the heart of Ukrainian television, always beating in rhythm with current events.
The episode concludes with a warm conversation with the program's release editor, Liudmyla Podlevska, and special correspondent Natalka Shchuka. They revealed behind-the-scenes details of organizing broadcasts and emphasized how, over the years, their team has become a true family. The speakers noted that for them "Breakfast with 1+1" is an embodiment of warmth, honesty, humanity, and kindness, as well as a method that helps them stay connected with Ukraine and the world in these extremely challenging times.
