Civilians in a full-scale war: watch the documentary "Sharp Knives. Borodyanka" about the defense of the Ukrainian city in 2022
With the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, not only the active military personnel began to defend Ukrainian cities but also civilians, who realized that without them defense of the country would be impossible.
"Sharp Knives. Borodyanka" is a documentary project about the residents of the small town of Borodyanka in Kyiv Oblast, who from the first days of the Russian invasion resisted the invaders and continued to fight even during the occupation in February and March 2022.
Civilians fought almost with their bare hands — volunteers were given one assault rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition. The Russians, faced with resistance, destroyed buildings and dropped 500-pound bombs on the city. The film not only documents the course of hostilities but also tells about the power of unity and hope that helped the defenders of Borodyanka survive in the darkest days of the occupation.
