"The Grove of Children's Dreams": 1+1 media accepts applications for planting trees in memory of children whose lives were cut short by war

So, in the coming days, we will be planting more trees of remembrance. Together with our partners, we will plant the first trees in the village of Makariv near Kyiv.

Last summer, 1+1 media, together with the Greening of Ukraine Charitable Foundation, started planting trees in memory of children whose lives were cut short by the war as part of the global environmental initiative Greening of the Planet. The initiative has been symbolically named the Grove of Children's Dreams.

So, in the coming days, another planting of trees of remembrance will be carried out. Together with our partners, we will plant the first trees in the village of Makariv, near Kyiv.

"When we started planting the Grove of Children's Dreams in Makariv last year, there was a terrible figure on everyone's lips: as of that November, 510 children had died in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression. When we were preparing for the new planting this week, we saw how much this horrific statistic had changed. As of March, the death toll was already 535. In fact, in less than six months, it is as if the Russians have killed another entire Ukrainian school class. Our biggest dream is that this number would freeze and never grow again, but the reality of war is unfortunately quite different. That is why we must constantly talk about it, constantly remind the world what is happening in Ukraine and support the families who have suffered such heavy losses," said Svyatoslav Hrynchuk, project mentor, host of 1+1 Marathon and TSN.

Earlier, in the autumn of 2023, the foundation of the Grove was laid in Makariv by planting 100 paradise apple trees. In addition, trees of remembrance have been planted in dozens of towns and villages across Ukraine.

Tree planting continues throughout Ukraine, as the project aims to popularise this movement, teach young people about environmental awareness, and make it a tradition to honour the memory of children during celebrations on 1 September. In total, the organisers plan to plant more than 500 paradise apple trees in Makariv and thousands of them throughout Ukraine.

"The pain of loss does not go away over the years! The war takes away something from each of us... Housing... Opportunities... Relatives... And even small children from their parents! We must remember all those who died as a result of this ruthless terrorism, especially our little angels. In memory of them, we are planting the Children's Dream Grove, which will become a space where you can come at any time of the year and gain strength from nature to the rustle of leaves," said Valentyna Khamaiko, project mentor, host of the Brave Hearts military project and the morning project Breakfast with 1+1.

To join the project, fill out the application form at this link to plant a tree - a symbol of honouring the child's memory. Together, we will plant a grove of paradise apple trees so that the memory of children will grow through the years and symbolise eternal life.

We also encourage all concerned people, communities, cultural and educational institutions to join the project, plant memorial trees and promote this important movement. We will definitely report on each such event on our information resources.

We would like to remind you that the project will be implemented by the teams of 1+1 media, "Breakfast with 1+1" and TSN, together with the Greening of Ukraine Charitable Foundation. The project mentors are Valentyna Khamayko, host of the military project Brave Hearts and the morning project Breakfast with 1+1, and Sviatoslav Hrynchuk, host of 1+1 Marathon and TSN. The project partners are Brusvyana Garden Centre and Business Woman Club.
