"Garden of Children's Dreams": Children who died because of the full-scale invasion were commemorated in the Kyiv region
1+1 Media and the "Greening Ukraine" Charitable Foundation continue to implement the social initiative "Garden of Children's Dreams," which aims to honor the memory of every child who died as a result of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. As of June 2025, according to data from the Office of the Prosecutor General, 631 children have been killed by Russia, and at least 1,970 have been wounded.
Thus, on the Day of Remembrance for Children who died due to armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, another 50 memorial trees, symbols of the project, were planted in the village of Kozintsi, Kyiv region. The village where the event took place was under temporary Russian occupation in early 2022. Many residents were injured, and some were killed, including the youngest Ukrainians.
"Summer used to be a time of joy for children. Now, unfortunately, many children have died, some have been wounded, some have been left homeless, or have been forced to relocate to other regions. Many children have friends, relatives, and parents fighting in the war. Some may not have returned from the war, and some are in captivity. All these children need tremendous support. This year's graduates are children who started school in 2014. That is, children whose entire school life has been, in fact, war. This fact gives pause to think. We must talk about this, draw attention to it, and be there for those who need our support, "said Sviatoslav Hrynchuk, host of 1+1 Marathon and TSN and mentor of the project.
In total, since the launch of the "Garden of Children's Dreams" initiative, over 2,000 memorial trees have been planted in Ukraine. Over 20 planting events have taken place. The campaign has covered various regions, including Kyiv Oblast (Vytiachiv, Zelenodolsk, Makariv, Irpin), Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Prykarpattia, Rivne Oblast, and others.
"It is vital for us that the memory of Ukrainian heroes and Ukrainian children is eternal and that we develop a culture of such energetic renewal and remembrance, where children are no longer physically present, but parents can come to the tree, feel their energy, and even talk to them. This energetic connection is important," added Anna Krysiuk, chairwoman of the charity fund " Greening Ukraine."
