Kyivstar TV and #stop_sexting urge parents to take care of children's safety on the Internet
Kyivstar TV has joined the #stop_sexting initiative of the NGO and added a series of cartoons about child safety on the Internet to its video library, which can be viewed by all authorised users for free.
Parents are increasingly concerned about the threats that children face online. Back in 2022, Kyivstar TV introduced the possibility of creating a children's profile, which allows children to watch cartoons and films that are appropriate for their age and avoid unwanted advertising.
In addition to the unwanted content that children can see online, they are also exposed to misinformation, excessive attention to social media trends, as well as cases of blackmail and sexual abuse. That's why #stop_sexting, in cooperation with TMC Animation and Amaze.org (USA), has developed a selection of five short cartoons that explain simple rules of online safety. These videos are useful not only for children, but also for parents who need to be aware of the rules of digital education for their youngest family members.
Cartoons about child safety on the Internet on Kyivstar TV:
‘Sextortion: Coercion and Blackmail Online’ - the cartoon explains how criminals can gain children's trust, how to recognise them and what to do if a child is already in a difficult situation.
‘How to Stay Safe on the Internet?’ explains simple online safety rules that parents and children can use. The film also explains how to set up cybersecurity settings.
‘Sexting: What to do’ explains that any content shared online is not completely private, but by following the rules of safe use of social media and the Internet, you can protect yourself.
‘Social Media and Me’ - the cartoon touches upon the topic of advertising and bloggers on social media, which provides answers to interesting questions, as children on social media can easily get carried away with the idea that life should be perfect and start comparing themselves to others.
‘Healthy Use of Social Media’ - this cartoon contains some tips on how to stay mentally healthy while using social media. The problem of the constant race for the number of likes and views can cause depressed feelings in children, which is why the cartoon is useful for children of all ages, especially for teenagers.
All these cartoons are available on Kyivstar TV for free. To do this, you need to log in with your phone number. The platform is available to subscribers of all mobile operators and Internet providers.
By the way, it is not the first time Kyivstar TV joins as a media partner to important initiatives from #stop_sexting aimed at the safety of children and teenagers on the Internet. Earlier, the platform made available the fairy tale ‘Happy and her superpower’, which tells about the safe use of the Internet by children aged 5-10.
