Kyivstar TV launches its own original: filming of the dramedy series "Vitya" has begun

The project is being produced within the framework of a strategic agreement between Kyivstar TV and FILM.UA Group and will be an important step in the development of Ukrainian series production for OTT platforms.

Original content has become a key factor in the success of digital platforms around the world, which is confirmed by international experience. Kyivstar TV and FILM.UA Group have already worked on an innovative catch-forward content distribution model, according to which series premieres are first released on an online platform, and later on traditional television. The series "Vitya" will be a new page in cooperation and a unique original project created specifically for the Ukrainian audience.

The plot of the series tells the story of a young car mechanic Vitya from Lubny, who dreams of a psychological career in Kyiv. A novice psychologist becomes a local celebrity thanks to his unconventional approach - consulting clients right at the service station, comparing the human psyche with the structure of a car. Every day he encounters human experiences, helping everyone deal with their own fears and problems. However, the hero himself faces a difficult choice: to stay in his hometown or go to Kyiv to achieve new professional heights. What will he choose?

“Vitya” is the first steps of the Kyivstar TV platform in creating original content. The company invests in high-quality Ukrainian serial product, expanding the horizons of viewers and industry professionals. The dramedy is based on the short film of the same name by director Maksym Susida - a thesis project at the Ukrainian Film School, which later won an award at the Eastern European Short Film Awards, and was also nominated at the Mykolaichuk OPEN festival.

“The production of the first full-fledged original project is a logical step in the development of Kyivstar TV. We strive not only to rebroadcast content, buy premieres and exclusives that are produced for cinemas or television, but to form a high-quality Ukrainian product that will be interesting to both our viewers and the international audience. “Vitya” will be the first, but far from the last story that we will tell. Money should be invested in the development of Ukrainian production, and not vice versa, which is why today we have the largest video library of Ukrainian-made projects,” notes Pavlo Rybak, CEO of Kyivstar TV.
