Maslenitsa at VDNG: March 1–2 we eat, sing, and welcome spring

Winter days are receding, and the air already smells of spring - it's time to celebrate one of the brightest holidays in Ukrainian ancient traditions, Maslenitsa.

On March 1-2, VDNG will turn into a center of folk festivities, color and spring entertainment.

The anniversary "Winter Country" is completing its tenth season, and it does so brightly - with folk rituals, music, delicious treats and fun in honor of spring.

Maslenitsa is an ancient tradition of seeing off winter, which exists in many European countries. In Ukraine, it is also called Kolodiy, Cheese Week, or Grandma's Day. During these days, people decorated their homes, remembered their relatives, asked for forgiveness and arranged magnificent festivities. The more cheerful the Maslenitsa celebration was, the more fruitful the year was supposed to be. Mandatory attributes of the holiday are dumplings, butter, cheese and, of course, rituals.

VDNG respects traditions, so on March 1-2, the most authentic program was prepared for the guests.

Folklore stage: performances by the children's and youth vocal studio "Nota", the "Zbyten" chapel, the bands "DvaTry", "GG GulyayGorod", Baika Band, the ensembles "Gromitsya", "Zernyatko", "Kralytsia", SoloMia. The program will be complemented by collective singing of vesnyanoks, gaivoks and master classes in folk dances and round dances.

Thematic master classes: pottery, making straw products, scarf weaving and other authentic crafts.

Theatrical performances: street performances, theater and stilt walkers.

Spring decor and thematic photo zones: colorful flower arrangements, Ukrainian ribbons, the favorite entertainment of children - mazes and photo zones made of hay, branches with pompoms and a giant motanka - a symbol of spring and family warmth.

At the food courts, guests will be treated to special dishes on the menu, which will combine ancient recipes with modern flavors. Salty and sweet dumplings with various fillings, pancakes, herbal teas, liqueurs and other traditional drinks.

The bright finale of the celebrations will be the ceremonial burning of Kostrub, symbolizing farewell to winter. Guests will be treated to a fire show from the Kyiv fire theater "Yasne sonce", filled with warmth and light, which should charge those present with a good spring mood.
