"I think he will remember this for the rest of his life": the son of a fallen defender became the hero of a video by FC Dynamo (Kyiv)
As part of the social project "Make a Dream Come True" by 1+1 Media, 11-year-old Nazar Shulga, a charge of the Children of Heroes Foundation and a big fan of FC Dynamo (Kyiv), became the hero of a video presentation of the club's new uniform.
In the video, which is available at this link, Nazar takes to the field alongside star players Andriy Yarmolenko, Mykola Shaparenko, Oleksandr Karavaev, Kristian Bilovar, Vitaliy Buyalskyi, Denys Popov, and Valentyn Morgun.
Football became the boy's greatest passion after a terrible loss — the death of his father. Ivan Shulga, a seasoned television professional and well-known media personality, had worked in the industry for a long time. However, on the first day of the full-scale invasion, he decided to defend his country after his final broadcast. Unfortunately, on June 14, 2023, he was killed during an artillery attack in the Donetsk region.
"Nazar started playing for hours, organizing tournaments at home, watching all the matches and videos, and learning about all the players. Sadly, my husband can't see how happy our son is, how his dream is coming true. But I'm so glad for him, " says his mother Anastasia.
For his part, footballer Oleksandr Karavaev added:
"From the very first seconds, it was clear that he was a very positive and genuine fan. This story means a lot; emotions are the most important thing for children. If we have the opportunity to give them, we will do so. I am sure that he will remember this for the rest of his life. And for us, it is the least we can do. You must always have a goal and a dream, then you will know what to strive for."
As a memorable gift, Nazar received not only valuable advice but also a personalized jersey from the club, adding:
"Today, Andriy Yarmolenko taught me how to kick a ball, and I enjoyed playing with Dynamo. They have always had many victories, and I will continue to cheer for them."
