Mykolaychuk OPEN International Audience Film Festival Opens The Reception Of Films For Competitive Programs
The festival will be held in Chernivtsi for the fourth time - from June 14 to 21
The Fourth Mykolaychuk OPEN International Audience Film Festival has announced the acceptance of films into the 2025 competition programs. Ukrainian short meters and international (including Ukrainian tapes) full meters can be submitted.
Acceptance of films continues until March 15. You can submit your work through the FilmFreeway platform.
Submission rules for films of the International Feature Film Competition 2025:
— Only full-length feature films are accepted for participation in the competition;
— Duration of competing films — 60+ minutes;
— Submitted tapes must be completed in 2024 or 2025;
— English subtitles — mandatory submission condition for non-English language films;
— We strive for a unique viewing experience, therefore we do not accept films that have been released in the Ukrainian box office or are due to be released before June 19, 2025;
— Submission of tapes is free;
— Please note that the festival does not pay a screening fee to contest participants;
— Submission takes place from October 21, 2024 to March 15, 2025. The decision of the selectors will be communicated by April 15, 2025.
Submission rules for National Short Films 2025:
— Short films of any genre (feature, documentary, animation, experimental) are accepted for participation in the competition;
— The film must be created by a Ukrainian director or producer. They also consider the works in which the Ukrainian production joined;
— Duration of competing films — up to 30 minutes;
— Submitted tapes must be completed in 2024 or 2025;
— Submission of tapes is free;
— English or Ukrainian subtitles are mandatory for non-Ukrainian-language tapes;
— Submitted films must not be in the public domain or have a rental until June 23, 2025;
— Please note that the festival does not pay a screening fee to contest participants;
— Submission takes place from October 21, 2024 to March 15, 2025. The decision of the selectors will be communicated by April 15, 2025.
The winning films are chosen by the audience, voting for each film participating in the competition after viewing. The following awards are provided:
— Prize for the best international feature film + $500 cash prize;
— Prize for the best Ukrainian short film + cash prize of $1000.
Participating films can also receive special awards from partners.
The official award of the film festival was named "Iron Mykolaychuk". The design of the award is inspired by the role of the film artist Ivan Mykolaichuk in the Ukrainian film "The Lost Diploma" directed by Boris Ivchenko in 1972. The figurines were created by masters Dmytro Shiyanov and Yevhen Sopko from Hisoshi Art Studio.
In 2023, Oleksiy Radinsky's film "Chernobyl 22" won the national competition, and the Polish film "Who are you, Philip?" won the international competition. Anna Goncharova's "Anniversary" and Leon Prudovsky's "My Neighbor Adolf" received special honors. In 2024, the prize from the partners of AMO Pictures went to the short film "Sonechko" by Serhiy Kulybyshev, and by audience voting such films as "Nuance" by Margarita Voronova and Oleg Kibalnyk, "Kripachka" by DK and Hugh Velchman and "Forever Forever" by Anna Buryachkova became the winners ( special award of the festival).
The Mykolaychuk OPEN festival will take place from June 14 to 21, 2025 with the support of the Chernivtsi City Council.
