Mykytenko Karina - Junior analyst (trainee) of the research department

When I found out about the internship at 1+1 media, this news was, well, completely "off topic". Having just fired from the state exam and diploma, there was a short and long-awaited rest before preparation and admission to the master's degree. Looking back, I am grateful to myself and to the people who helped me make the right decision, and today I am a junior analyst in the research department of 1+1 media.

In life, we often have to set priorities, and in this choice it is important not to confuse what is the "goal" and what is the "means." Justifying my indecisiveness, I told myself that I needed to focus on my studies, solve things as they came, and, in the end, that from September I would already be thinking about what to do next. Still, the dream of working in the media took over, and I decided to send my resume. I realized that it is impossible to lose such a chance, because there will always be answers that are somehow important, they logically fit into your scheme of the path to success, but still they do not give you "take and do". And, unequivocally, learning in practice is more productive than any lectures.

At the interview, my future colleagues "enthused" me with the news that the previous intern left after a week of internship. I was warned that work in the research department would not always be very excitingly interesting. Fortunately, the university gave me an idea of what a media analyst is, and I didn't build castles in the air for myself. I can say with confidence that my expectations were more than justified.

Of course, I had to learn the theory, master the program from scratch, which analyzes TV channels and their products, but the most important thing is that I understand what I do and why. Writing reports, analyzing ratings, polling the audience in social networks may seem like a boring and uninteresting activity to many. But it's so cool, when in the evening you watch the premiere of a long-awaited project, and tomorrow at work you can see whether this product "went in" and what its main competitors are. Interest in the matter awakens when you immerse yourself in all stages of the work of a large team of people and see real results. Only an analyst knows what numbers are behind the viewing of Antonina's favorite TV series. But I never thought that numbers could be so interesting and that I would work with them. As they say, "don't deny yourself" J.
