Ukrainian comedy-thriller "Morena" released on Kyivstar TV

The Ukrainian horror film with elements of eroticism and humor "Morena" caused a stormy reaction from the audience during its premiere in 2024 at the Mykolaychuk OPEN audience film festival in Chernivtsi. Later, it received an award at the Tokyo Horror Film Festival in Japan as the best feature film. "Morena" is now available on the Kyivstar TV film and television platform.

The film, which is both frightening and funny, tells the story of a young couple - Anya and Yurka. In the summer, they come to visit the girl's parents in a Ukrainian Carpathian village. At the celebration of Ivan Kupala, the local heartthrob Ivanka, nicknamed Morena, sets her sights on Yurk and charms him. Strange and mystical events begin to happen to the lovers after meeting Morena. A conflict breaks out between the girls - their relationship turns into a desperate war that leaves a trail of blood. This enmity will forever change the heroes of the film.

The author of the script and director is Serhiy Aloshechkin. The filming of the film took place over three months, mostly in the Carpathians, in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions: in Mykulychyn, Vyzhnytsia and Ispas.
