The first Ukrainian true crime series: Kyivstar TV launches new original “Silent Nava”
Filming has begun on Kyivstar TV’s second original series, “Silent Nava,” a true crime detective thriller. The project is being created on order of Kyivstar TV by SFERA FILM, a production company specializing in film and TV series production. The premiere is scheduled for early 2026. The series is directed by Dmytro Andriyanov, and the director of photography is Vyacheslav Rakovsky. The project is produced by Anna Gonchar and Dmytro Safanovsky. The new series will star: Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Anastasia Pustovit, Mykhailo Zhonin, Serhiy Kysil, Larisa Rusnak, Andriy Saminin, Oleksandra Soroka, Veronika Mishaeva, Andriy Mostrenko.
“Silent Nava” is the first Ukrainian true crime series, the events of which unfold in a small town of the same name. The main character is a young lawyer who accidentally finds himself at the center of an investigation into a series of brutal crimes. On his way to the truth, he encounters the indifference of society, the tacit consent of his surroundings, and the inertia of the system. The series explores how inaction and silence can become accomplices in a crime, as well as how easily the system turns against those who try to change it from within.
The project will be another step for Kyivstar TV in building an institution of its own content for the OTT platform. Creating original stories designed for the Ukrainian viewer is a priority for the company in the context of the transformation of the media market and the growing demand for local series formats.
“We continue to invest in the production of series that meet the needs of the Ukrainian audience. Our goal is to create content that not only entertains, but also makes sense of what is happening around us. "Silent Nava" is a bold story about the struggle for the truth that resonates with reality. This is the second original project of Kyivstar TV, and we are definitely not stopping," - Pavlo Rybak, CEO of Kyivstar TV.
"Silent Nava" is a continuation of the platform's ambitious strategy to support Ukrainian production. After the dramedy "Vitya", which will appear exclusively on the Kyivstar TV film and television platform on September 1, 2025, the new project will contribute to genre diversity and serial storytelling.
""Silent Nava" is the first Ukrainian true crime series, and for us it is a real challenge and at the same time a great inspiration. This is a genre that has not yet been in Ukrainian serial production, so it is especially interesting to implement it together with such a strong and professional team. We all feel that we are creating something important and important,” — Anna Gonchar, the project’s chief producer.
By the way, the project, which previously had the working title “Enrique,” has already won the main award of the international competition Content Warsaw Copro Pitch 2025 from C21Media in the Scripted Series category. Out of more than 50 applications from across the Central and Eastern Europe region, only six were selected for the final pitching — and it was he, now called “Silent Nava,” who won the recognition of the international jury.
