Pianist Yevhen Khmara Holds a Special Musical Session for Students of the School of Superheroes
Pianist Yevhen Khmara made a special visit to the School of Superheroes educational center at Okhmatdyt. As part of 1+1 media’s social initiative Make a Dream Come True, Yevhen held a piano therapy session for children undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the medical facility.
For the Superheroes, music offered a genuine opportunity to take a break from hospital routines, dream, have fun, and sing — just as children do. Naturally, there was also time to talk about dreams and aspirations, as Yevhen believes that dreams are one of the key driving forces in life. They help us move forward, overcome challenges, and believe in a better future even in the most difficult moments.
“We gave an impromptu concert at Okhmatdyt, and it was so interesting to watch the children’s emotions! I can confidently say that music is very much needed today. It is one of the simplest forms of emotional therapy and a tool for believing in the best. Music is given to us to express what we cannot convey through verbal communication. That is why, for me, this meeting was an expression of love, light, and mutual support,” said Yevhen Khmara.
The team also prepared a music quiz for the children, during which Yevhen played well-known compositions from films and TV series for them to guess. At the end of the meeting, everyone sang together in unison with the piano, performing the iconic Ukrainian song Chervona Ruta and the National Anthem of Ukraine — symbols of resilience, unity, and faith in a healthy and peaceful future.
“Our regular meetings with Yevhen Khmara have already become special occasions that our Superheroes look forward to very much. They are always about dreams, fun and childhood, and about an atmosphere filled with music and joy. Such meetings are especially important for the educational process: music helps children process their emotions, open themselves up to new experiences, and feel that even in difficult circumstances, there is still room for creativity, dreams, and genuine emotions. Music also heals the souls of parents, who often join our meetings to share these inspiring moments with their children and, even if only for a while, take a break from hospital routines and the daily challenges brought by their children’s illness,” said Nataliia Oliinyk, Director of the School of Superheroes.
