The First Broadcasting Code of Co-regulatory Bodies Was Signed. The Document Entered into Force
On September 1, members of the joint regulatory body for audiovisual media services signed the first broadcasting code created by this union – Broadcasting Rules on Remembrance Days for Linear Audiovisual Media. 10 out of 12 members signed the document. Thus, it entered into force and is mandatory for all television broadcasters.
The Broadcasting Code was previously approved by the board of the co-regulatory body for audiovisual services, as well as by a decision of the National Council. Representatives of the industry, the media regulator, and public experts were involved in working on it.
According to Olena Nitsko, a member and executive secretary of the National Council, it is important for the media regulator that compliance with the Broadcasting Rules on Remembrance Days is not limited to graphic images on the screen. Instead, it is necessary for the media to create programs and explain which dates and why Ukrainians commemorate them.
Since the Rules for Broadcasting on Memorial Days for Linear Audiovisual Media have come into force, from now on they must be applied by television broadcasters.
The new act is mandatory for all audiovisual media in Ukraine. When monitoring TV channels, the National Council will continue to be guided by the new Rules for Broadcasting on Memorial Days for Linear Audiovisual Media.

At the same time, we draw the attention of broadcasters! Until the adoption of the relevant broadcasting code by the joint regulatory body in the field of audio media, the Rules for broadcasting by television and radio organizations on days of mourning (sorrow, mourning) and days of remembrance, approved by the decision of the National Council dated 23.07.2015 No. 1146 (as amended), remain in force for them.
