Results of the second telethon Save Ukraine — #StopWar

During the broadcast, many political leaders expressed their support for Ukraine, including Olaf Scholz , the Federal Chancellor of Germany: "We are with you (Ukrainians - ed.) in thoughts and hearts. Putin will not win... We are with you, we are united. We are building plans for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine."

This is an unprecedented in modern history consolidation of millions of people around the heroic Ukrainian people, who are fighting for freedom, for justice, for a better future for the whole of Europe. I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine in this difficult and historic time with specific cases, contributions, and actions," commented Dmytro Kuleba , Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

First and foremost, the task of the Save Ukraine marathon — #StopWar — is to further consolidate the international community in its opposition to Russian expansion, and also to prevent any civilized country in the world from pushing the issue of the war in Ukraine to second place.

So, with the messages #StopWarInUkraine, #stoprussia, #StandWithUkraine, #EmbraceUkraine, people from different continents and more than 30 cities of the world gathered on the streets , including Berlin, London, Milan, Toronto, Cascais, Stockholm, Bern, Sofia, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Athens , Sao Paulo, Curitiba, Vienna, Washington, Tirana, etc. People watched the telethon in the central squares and called to help Ukraine by sending funds through the global fundraising initiative U NITED24 for the purpose of purchasing medical equipment for health care institutions providing assistance to the wounded and victims of war.

In addition, telebridges were held with Greece, Lebanon, Austria, Poland, Italy, France, the USA and Canada during the broadcast. As a sign of support, locals came to the event with posters and T-shirts with inscriptions of the Ukrainian cities that suffered the most from the Russian occupiers: Italy - Kherson, France - Bucha, Austria - Severodonetsk, Poland - Borodyanka, Canada - Irpin, USA - Chernihiv, Lebanon - Kharkiv , Greece Mariupol.

"During the war in Ukraine, the whole world unites to help. And the second Save Ukraine — #StopWar marathon is another example of the cooperation of thousands of people to overcome the aggressor country. This is a whole community of caring citizens of Ukraine and the EU, who support our culture and Ukrainian artists and thus close huge collections for the needs of the army. Thank you to everyone who made a charitable contribution. Any help is invaluable and brings us closer to victory ," added Oleksandr Tkachenko , Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

In general, as of May 31, more than UAH 6,000,000 was collected at the expense of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine within the marathon. These funds will be sent for the purchase of S-arch x-ray machines for the regions receiving the wounded. In addition, within the framework of the "Dynamo Kyiv" project, a decision was made to rebuild the Gurivshchyna dispensary of the Buchansky Regional Medical Center, which was completely destroyed as a result of the war. Millions of hryvnias will be needed to fully restore the facility, which will be covered by the football club.

The team also reports that the Save Ukraine — #StopWar marathon has started fundraising for the purchase of medical equipment, which is critically important in wartime conditions. Therefore, the goal of purchasing X-ray machines, the approximate cost of which is 100,000 euros per unit, remains. To do this, the organizers and partners of the telethon plan to hold a number of actions and projects in June and July aimed at achieving the goal. In total, more than 350,000 people watched the live broadcast of the telethon on Digital, and the broadcast made it to the TOP of Ukrainian YouTube. TV channels and VOD-platforms of some countries show the telethon additionally in a repeat or in a recording, respectively, fundraising is still ongoing.

Also, during the broadcast, the presenters talked about L aruHelpsUkrain e an organization engaged in humanitarian aid in Berlin and providing support to Ukrainians throughout the migration cycle.

The Save Ukraine — #StopWar telethon is implemented by the teams of the Department of Big Shows 1+1 media, the Atlas festival, Suspilne and Kyivstar, with the support of the Dynamo Kyiv football club, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Havas, Semantic corpus, Pilecki-Institut, Vitsche also helped organize the event.
