Emerald Business in Colombia: Watch the exciting episodes of The World Inside Out on the 1+1 Worldwide platform

Colombia is not only about coffee and salsa, but also a country of countless natural riches, from which over 90% of the world's finest emeralds are exported. In episodes 3–5 of the travel show “The World Inside Out”, Dmytro Komarov will reveal the unexplored Colombia to viewers and show how precious stones are extracted near the city of Muzo, the "emerald capital" of the planet, as well as what people are willing to do to get a chance at instant wealth.

In Episode №3 of the series of releases about Colombia, Dmytro Komarov will head to a place where dozens of people search for emeralds every day, hoping to change their destiny forever. Viewers will see the baladora — a unique event where locals race to sift through mining debris in search of precious stones. You will learn how much the most expensive emerald found by a guaquero cost, why these stones are called blood emeralds, and what life is really like for the population of one of the world’s richest treasure regions.

In the fourth episode of the travel show The World Inside Out: Colombia, Dmytro Komarov will visit the city of Muzo and try to master the profession of a miner. The journalist will work for a day in a mine at a depth of 18 meters and talk to people who have been doing this for years. Viewers will also hear the story of a man who was lucky enough to find his dream stone in the mine and become a millionaire.

Episode №5 of the project will continue the theme of the insane wealth that emeralds can bring. However, in this episode, the journalist will tell the reverse side of the precious stone business in Colombia and will interview hitmen who took part in the "emerald wars" — brutal events from 30 years ago that locals prefer not to remember. You will learn how young men became part of criminal groups, who was eliminated to gain control over the mines, and how one of the killers is now trying to atone for his guilt to the families of the victims.
