TSN will show the documentary special project "Road to Bankova"

March 24 at 7:30 p.m. on TSN. Week" on the "1+1" channel will premiere the documentary special project "Road to Bankova" about the political cuisine during the elections for the entire period of recent history of Ukraine and the paths of presidents to the post of head of state. TSN political columnist Olga Koshelenko was the author of the 6-episode series. Each series will last 20 minutes and will be dedicated to one of the periods of election races - 1991, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2010 and 2014. The "gray cardinals" of Ukrainian politics, participants and eyewitnesses of the process who know from the inside about the vicissitudes behind the scenes will talk about the turning points in the election campaigns and the evolution of political technologies in Ukraine. In particular, Olga Koshelenko talked with political activist Taras Chornovol, ex-minister of justice during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych - Oleksandr Lavrynovych, well-known political technologists Mykyta Poturaev and Volodymyr Granovsky, journalists - Vitaly Portnikov, Sonya Koshkina and others.

"As long as you are part of the system and focus on details, it is difficult to see it in its entirety," says author Olga Koshelenko. - In our documentary project, we offer the viewer to take a few steps back to assess the situation in retrospect. While working on this project, I was guided by the principle - no love, no hatred, no obligations. Each series is a detective story with a predictable ending. Our task is to find turning points in the pre-election race that influenced its outcome. We pay attention to the internal motivation of the candidates, their environment, the social context and the role of chance in their political career."

The TSN team worked on the documentary project "Road to Bankova" for more than six months. It contains unique archival footage of important events in the recent history of Ukraine that have not been shown before. For example, Leonid Kravchuk's first visit to Canada in 1991 or his first meeting with Vyacheslav Chornovol.

The editor of the project is Olga Kashpor, deputy director of the news department of "1+1 media", the chief director of TSN is Alesya Kovalenko, and the editing director is Olena Hrytsyuk.

"This is a landmark project for TSN. First, because documentary in news is a new format, and the work process was significantly different from news production. We studied the archives for a long time and selected the characters, looked for scenario and visual solutions, worked on the dramaturgy. Secondly, as journalists, it was important for us to understand the reasons for some political decisions, which previously remained incomprehensible to society. TSN has always been at the epicenter of key events, but it is possible to rethink them only after some time. Many details were revealed only now, when after many years it became possible to talk about it. It is thanks to them that the first persons of the country in our project open up from completely new sides, - says the director of the news department of "1+1 media" Serhii Popov. - The format and timing of the project are unusual for our viewers. But we hope they will watch it with the same high interest with which we approached its production."
