This Saturday, 23 December, the Oscar cinema at the Gulliver shopping mall will host the premiere of the Ukrainian-British documentary WHY US? by Maria Springs. 1+1 media is the general media partner of the event.

This documentary is based on real events. The main character's son was killed in a full-scale war. The whole of Ukraine and the world followed the events of this terrible misfortune. The mission of WHY US? is to continue to talk about the global problem of the genocide of the Ukrainian nation, the terrible crimes of the Russian Federation, abductions, pressure on children and Russian propaganda.

"Children are our future! We have to distribute this film all over the world so that everyone understands how important it is not only for Ukraine but for all countries. The war is closer than it seems. Only by uniting we can ensure a better future for our children," said the film's director Maria Springis.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion, during which speakers will raise important topics such as the impact of war on children, the genocide of the Ukrainian nation and the future of Ukraine. The audience will also have the opportunity to meet the main characters and meet the filmmakers. The event will be moderated by Marichka Padalko, host of 1+1 Ukraine and TSN. The event starts at 14:00.

"For children, war is a much more difficult experience than for adults. They are defenseless, but at the same time very loyal to the place where they were born and raised. Keeping them safe and creating a strong country for them is our top priority. And if we don't, they will definitely witness the punishment of Russian war criminals," said Marichka Padalko.

Other speakers at the event will include Daria Gerasymchuk, Advisor to the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights and Child Rehabilitation, Oksana Zbytneva, Head of the Coordination Centre for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Mykola Kuleba, founder and head of Save Ukraine, and Oksana Lebedieva, founder of Gen.Ukrainian.

In order to participate in the event, you need to register via this link. Admission is free, but the number of seats is limited. Important! Due to the topic that the organisers will be discussing at the event, please do not bring children under the age of 16.

By the way, in September 2023, the trailer for WHY US? became a finalist at the Vancouver International Film Festival. In addition, the product received the first two awards at the festival in America and a special mention from the International Film Festival of the World.
