Starting December 4 in All Cinemas Nationwide, the Premiere Date of The Guardians of Christmas Has Been Announced
Everyone's favorite holiday is in danger, but faith can bring even Christmas back!
1+1 Media has announced the release date for the Christmas fairy tale "The Guardians of Christmas" — the film will hit Ukrainian cinemas on December 4, 2025. The film's official teaser and a teaser poster have been published on its social media, accompanied by the slogan: "Every dream must come true!" — because that's how the greatest miracles begin. You can also watch the video on the B&H Film Distribution Company YouTube channel.
This is the first feature film that 1+1 Media, in partnership with UnitedContentHUB, is releasing after the start of the full-scale war. The film combines the genres of family comedy and fantasy, also exploring the theme of reevaluating the celebration of Christmas on December 25. The film was directed by Oleksandr Kirienko, with Tetyana Shulika co-writing the idea and screenplay. Filming took place in Kyiv and the surrounding region and is currently in its final stages.
The film stars: the star of "The Guide," the lead actor in one of the most popular Ukrainian TV series, "Papik," Stanislav Boklan; a star of Ukrainian films and TV series Mykhailo Kukuyuk; and one of the most promising new stars of Ukrainian cinema, who played the legendary Kuzma Skryabin in the "Me, Victory, and Berlin," Ivan Blindar. Viewers will also see Kateryna Kuznetsova, Roman Lutsky, and many unexpected cameos and superstars. The part of the girl, Vira, will be played by Arina Trehub, who will be making her big-screen debut with this film.
According to the plot, on the eve of Christmas, three legendary magicians — Saint Nicholas, Santa Claus, and the ancient Winter Spirit — meet to decide who will take care of the holiday in Ukraine. But the accidental wish of a little girl, Vira, erases Christmas from people's memories. Along with that day, the heroes' magical powers also disappear. Now, they must join forces to restore people's faith in miracles — and in the holiday itself. Will our "Guardians" succeed, and how will their confrontation end? We'll find out on December 4 in cinemas nationwide!
"I dream that this film will become a Christmas story that people will watch again and again every year. I want to give the audience warmth, joy, hope, and a fairy tale — and at the same time create a story that will strengthen our national identity," commented Tetyana Shulika.
"The beginning of December is the perfect time to make Christmas wishes. It is a time for miracles, which we all need so much. So we believe that our Christmas fairy tale will be a source of support, comfort, and inspiration in these difficult times," noted Anna Honchar, a 1+1 media producer.
"Starting on December 4, we are creating real Christmas magic for Ukrainians. "The Guardians of Christmas" is our belief in miracles even in the most difficult times. I am convinced that the film will unite families and remind us of the power of hope. Ukrainian cinema lives and wins!" summed up the film's co-producer, Oleksii Lymarenko.
