“Race of Honor named after Recruit 2026”: a charity event will be held in Kyiv that will bring together military and civilians
On June 28, 2026, the charity event “Race of Honor named after. Recruit 2026”. An event that brings together active military, veterans and civilians and will gather more than 3,500 participants.
At one time, this race was born as a story about Rekrut: a military journalist, a major of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy “Rekrut” Chubashev. The event was organized by Run Ukraine together with Oleksiy's wife, Yulia Chubasheva. Traditionally, 100% of registration fees are directed to the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. This year, the contributions will be distributed among the five military units that will join the race.
“Today “Race of Honor named after. Recruit” – is a story about everyone who continues. Therefore, the slogan of the race is – “Honor to be, run, remember”. This is about the honor of being a soldier, the honor of running next to the military, the honor of remembering those who gave their lives for the defense of the country”, – says Dmytro Chernitskyi, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the founder of Run Ukraine.
During the “Race of Honor named after Recruit 2026” for the first time in Ukraine will appear “Alley Brave” – memorial zone along the running track, inspired by the American tradition of Blue Mile.
The participants of the event will run past hundreds of signs with photos, names and call signs of Ukrainian dead defenders, paying their respects. This is a section of the track where there will be no music, presenters and loudspeakers – only quiet steps, names, memory, which reflects the essence of the Honor race: the honor of being a soldier, helping the army and remembering those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Along the “Alley of Brave” will stand relatives, volunteers and brothers with flags and ribbons with the names and call letters of the military.
Joint-stock company “National nuclear power generating company “Energoatom” – ideological partner of the race. This partnership – is primarily about people. About nuclear workers who, after the start of a full-scale war, came to the defense of Ukraine.
“For me personally, the Race of Honor – is not only an event about sports. For me, this is primarily about uniting completely different people and partners around the right values. It is about a new culture that has taken one of the leading places in society. Unfortunately, this culture – about the memory of those who are no longer with us”, – commented on the event Yulia Chubasheva, co-organizer of the Honor race named after. Recruit, widow of Oleksiy Chubashev.
Within the event “Race of Honor named after. Recruit 2026” distances of 10 km, 5 km, and children's starts are available, as well as an online format for participants from anywhere in the world.
Also, within the framework of the event, a traditional distance of – symbolic 100 meters will be held for veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war and active servicemen undergoing rehabilitation.
