Statement of the 1+1 media group regarding the non-fulfillment of requirements by the participants of the legislative quota market

For us, groups 1+1   media , as a media company with almost 30 years of history, a proactive lobbyist and an implementer of the idea of producing Ukrainian original content, one of the important issues is compliance with the requirements of the current legislation of Ukraine regarding quotas for the national product.

In its activities, the 1+1 group   media   adheres to the principles of responsible and honest business conduct. These important guarantees are a stimulus for the development of the industry, because, following the rules of fair play, all participants in the industry and owners of media businesses are on equal terms.

Understanding that   the sphere of television must take into account the interests of all audiences and satisfy the needs of all   consumers in accessing the content they like, we strive to fill our offer with content of various genres, including foreign production. However, no matter how interesting the series, films and shows produced abroad are, the television product created in Ukraine is and will always be closer and a priority for us. After all, his presence on television -   it is not only support for the development of the national television industry, but also a necessary means for patriotic education of citizens of our country and understanding of national ideology, values, and culture.

Non-compliance with quotas   national _   audiovisual product   by individual television channels of the Ukrainian television market, unfortunately, does not contribute to the formation of these important moral principles among the population.   In particular, it is about the "New Channel". In different periods of January 2020, the percentage of non-performance of the national product on the channel ranged from 2% to 16%, i.e., only 32% to 42% of national products were broadcast on the New Channel.   This forces us to turn to the management of the channel and to the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting with the question why the legislation was ignored .

We hope that answers will be received in the near future, and in the meantime, we call on other media groups to remember our joint responsibility and make efforts to ensure that competition in the television market remains healthy, and that the principles of partnership are always respected.
