"Life after scars": 1+1 Ukraine will show a unique project on the reintegration of veterans into civilian life

On June 26 at 10:30 a.m., the TV premiere of the journalistic project "Life After Scars", produced by 1+1 Media, will air on the “1+1 Ukraine” TV channel. This project is about Ukrainian veterans who have returned from war and are learning to live on day by day. In each episode, the heroes will share their stories about how they find the strength and motivation to grow, build businesses, and take small but confident steps toward a new life.

"Life After Scars" is the first television project in Ukraine to openly and systematically address the challenges our defenders face after the front lines. Employment, health, family, self-esteem, acceptance of one’s new self — each episode will not only voice these problems but also seek real solutions together with experts.

Among the project’s heroes are: veteran and founder of the BatArt workshop Andriy Nesmachnyi, who shows how combat experience can be transformed into creativity and business into a way to help fellow soldiers; veteran Taras Sasovskyi, who lost both legs in the battles for Bakhmut. Despite this, he returned to sports and achieved the incredible: he won at international competitions by performing an exercise considered nearly impossible without limbs. Today, Taras also leads a veteran hub, supporting others on the road to recovery. Hennadii Azzheurov worked in the police for nearly 30 years. During the enemy’s assault on Mariupol, he was captured. After his release, he completely changed his profession, mastering a new craft at the age of 55.

The goal of "Life After Scars" on “1+1 Ukraine” is to help — both those who have already been through war and those who are close to them: families, friends, colleagues, employers. The project will share how to support veterans in daily life, how to adapt the work environment, and how to listen and truly hear. The project’s host is TSN correspondent Olena Hushchyk, who will help the heroes talk about things that are often left unsaid.

The project’s partners include: the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Kyivstar TV, robota.ua, the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, the NGO "Heart of Azovstal", INTERTOP, the NGO "Barrier-Free", and the “Business Without Barriers” community — all united around the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.

Don’t miss the premiere of "Life After Scars" on June 26 at 10:30 a.m. on “1+1 Ukraine”.

"Life After Scars" is a large-scale social initiative by 1+1 media aimed at supporting veterans on their path back to civilian life, as well as systematizing the unique experience of Ukrainian employers in working with this target audience. The initiative is based on over 10 years of relevant experience by 1+1 media in communication with veterans and includes various formats: the program of the same name airing on “1+1 Ukraine” and Kyivstar TV, special projects, digital platform segments, and thematic partnerships with Ukrainian businesses.

The project has already received international recognition, winning the European Excellence Awards 2024 and the Brilliance Awards 2024.
