"1+1 media" filed a report with the cyber police on Newzmate about hidden mining on the group's sites

The "1+1 digital" department conducted an investigation and found that through the API of the Newzmate company, a hidden script Сoin-hive for mining the Monero cryptocurrency was downloaded into the browsers of readers of the group's news sites from the api.traq.li domain. In this way, fraudsters got rich at the expense of users' computer resources without their knowledge. After detection, the mining program was removed from all sites of the group.

The program entered the media group's websites after the purchase of the Traqli e-mail service, the developer of which is Newzmate. Also, the editors of the TSN.ua website received an offer to use the mailing service for free, but on the condition of using a script for mining. Such an offer was rejected, but the mentioned script still got on the group's sites.

Such actions fall under Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Unauthorized interference with the operation of electronic computing machines (computers), automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks." A corresponding application has already been submitted to the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

We will remind that at the end of September of this year there were already known incidents of the use of Ukrainian online media for covert cryptocurrency mining. Then the Monero mining script was discovered in football.ua, Korrespondent.net, iSport.ua, tochka.net and others.
