1+1 media draws the attention of the public and regulatory authorities to the double standards of TRC "Ukraine"

For five years now, the law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Protection of the Informational Television and Radio Space of Ukraine" has been in force in Ukraine, which, in particular, prohibits the broadcast of any Russian films/series produced or first made public after January 1, 2014. Unfortunately, some market players allow themselves to ignore Ukrainian legislation, thus causing irreparable damage to the image of our state, which they declaratively care about in public statements.

So, on September 25 and 27, 2020, the four-episode TV series "Women in Love" was broadcast on the TV channel "Ukraine", which is part of the "Media Group Ukraine" holding. On the official website of the TV channel   "Ukraine, 2015" is indicated in the description of the tape. However, based on information from open sources , the producer of the series is two Russian companies - "PRIOR Production" and "Green Film Studio", the cast of the series, as well as the crew, is completely Russian, and the premiere of the film took place on April 12 2015 on the Russian TVC channel under the name "Three Happy Women". For the first time, the TV channel "Ukraine" showed "Women in Love" on its air on May 20 and 21, 2016, and later repeated the broadcast on January 22, 2017 and February 23, 2020.

Over the past five years, the TV channel "Ukraine" has repeatedly abused the screening of controversial Russian films presented either as Ukrainian or as co-produced by Ukraine and Russia. In particular, a detailed investigation   as to why the TV series "Women in Love" has every reason to fall under the ban of Ukrainian cinematography legislation, the "Telekritika" publication conducted in February 2020. And even earlier, the publication "Detector Media" analyzed it   open letter   to the National Council from public activists, who in 2015-2016 counted more than 30 screenings of controversial films on the air of the TV channel "Ukraine". As a result of the public publicity of Derzhkino later   canceled   part of the rental licenses issued for the mentioned series.

Currently, there are statements from the holding company "Media Group Ukraine", in which, in particular, concerns are expressed regarding the legal basis for building a civilized copyright market and Ukraine's international reputation as a country where broadcasters respect and protect intellectual property rights. The 1+1 media group fully shares this concern and categorically disapproves of any manipulation of the broadcast product that leads to misleading viewers and the public. We also consider it necessary to emphasize that for the reputation of Ukraine it is very important, first of all, for all market players to comply with the legislation of their own state and the rules of fair competition on the market.
