1+1 media informs about the implementation of the satellite coding project

With the aim of a gradual and comfortable process of preparing for satellite encoding, which will take place on January 20, 2020, for all its participants, the 1+1 media group, together with leading media groups and niche entertainment channels, has started preparing software service providers for encoding the transport signal. Work has already begun to inform and prepare providers that use satellite signals for broadcasting in their cable networks.

Providers who have valid agreements for the retransmission of TV channels of the 1+1 media group are provided with special satellite signal decoding devices - Verimatrix CAM modules. Depending on the composition of the equipment of the main station of the cable network, the group provides providers with several models of CAM modules for 1, 2, 12 or 20 TV channels. Ordering and sending of CAM modules to providers is carried out on the basis of their preliminary survey and questionnaire.

The next step in the coding project will be a joint nationwide information campaign of Ukrainian media groups, which will begin at the end of August 2019. It will help prepare satellite (FTA) subscribers for changes in broadcasting, as well as help them choose a method of connection and reception of a television signal. To inform FTA providers and their subscribers, the 1+1 media group has already created additional (alternative) satellite versions of TV channels "1+1", "TET" and "2+2", in which pay TV and free-to-air TV networks will distribute information messages. Alternative versions of these TV channels are also encoded using the Verimatrix conditional access system.

"Understanding that satellite coding is a turning point in the development of domestic television and an additional incentive for it to reach a higher and better level, 1+1 media cannot stand aside from the process and actively participates in the implementation of the coding project. Currently, we are working hard to ensure that B2B providers have all the necessary equipment to provide their subscribers with the opportunity to access encrypted satellite channels, and viewers are properly informed about the changes that await them , " commented Yaroslav Pakholchuk, executive director and director direction of pay television 1+1 media.

We remind you that according to the published coding project, the next steps in its implementation will be:

·        October 2019: coding of the Zeonbudu transport satellite signal;

·        November 2019: pendulum disconnections of signals of the main channels of media groups for satellite television subscribers;

·        January 2020: satellite signal coding.
