Akim Galimov and Marichka Padalko became the faces of the project "Senses that unite" by the NGO "Alem"

1+1 media has become a partner of the project to unite Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar cultures called "Senses that Unite".

The campaign was developed by the Alem NGO and photographer Kateryna Huz with the support of Switzerland. The initiative is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Ukraine's accession to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and aims to demonstrate the values shared by both nations.

The faces of the campaign from 1+1 media are Akim Galimov, producer, author and host of the Real Story project, and Marichka Padalko, host of 1+1 Ukraine and TSN.

For Akim Galimov, who is a Crimean Tatar by nationality, participation in this project is particularly valuable. As part of the campaign, he will appear in the Crimean Tatar national costume, which accompanies a visual series of Ornek ornaments with encoded deep meanings and wishes.  It also represents special coffee traditions.

"For a long time, thanks to the Kremlin's propaganda, Crimean Tatar culture in Ukraine was treated as something alien, and very little was known about it. Projects like this break down stereotypes and show that Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars are actually much closer, our cultural roots were formed on the same land," Akim said.

In turn, the presenter Marichka Padalko will also appear in the thematic photos in a traditional Crimean Tatar women's anter dress, fez headdress, accessories and jewellery, which convey certain information about its owner through signs and symbols.

"Before this shoot, I had only seen Crimean Tatar costumes from afar, and I was worried whether I could match the image at least a little bit. And I could never have imagined that it would become so familiar in a few hours, as if I had been a Crimean Tatar in my past life," Marichka added.

The photos will be placed on city lights in cities with a population of over a million people, in the subway and train cars. The campaign will also be broadcast on television and social media. More information about the project can be found on the website at this link: https://www.ornek-crimea.com/ourprojects-ua.

In addition, everyone will be able to plunge into the world of Crimean Tatar culture from Tuesday to Sunday at the exhibition Miras. Heritage" exhibition in the Treasury of the National Museum of History of Ukraine. The address is 9 Lavrska St., building 12 (the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve).
