G7 diplomats meet with TV channels of the United News and Freedom telethon

The parties to the meeting sought to discuss what is currently happening in the Ukrainian information space, how the United News and Freedom telethons work and what results they have achieved, to discuss problems and current challenges in the media together, to express warnings and to make sure that Ukrainian TV channels are independent and unbiased.

The meeting was attended by: CEO of Starlight Media Group Oleksandr Bogutskyi, CEO of 1+1 Media Group Yaroslav Pakholchuk, Director of National Information Systems at Inter Media Group Nazim Bedirov, Board Member of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine Andriy Taranov, Telethon coordinator Vladyslav Matiash, Director General of the Multimedia Broadcasting Platform (Freedom) Yulia Ostrovska, General Producer of We-Ukraine Yuriy Sugak, and Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Taras Shevchenko.

The event was attended by Ambassador of Japan Matsuda Kuninori, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova, diplomats from the embassies of the United States, Italy, France, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

- G7 ambassadors met with representatives of the Ukrainian media. "We discussed the current media landscape and the value of supporting high-quality, independent and pluralistic broadcasting as a necessity for Ukraine's resilience," the G7 said in a statement.

This was the second meeting of the G7 representatives with the heads of Public Broadcasting, Starlight Media, 1+1 Media, Inter Media Group, We-Ukraine, and the IPIU, which create the telethons United News and Freedom, this time at ICTV.
