"Grove of Children's Dreams": In Irpin, The Memory of Children who Died as a Result of a Full-scale Invasion Was Commemorated

1+1 media and Charity Foundation "Greening of Ukraine" continue the implementation of the social project "Grove of Children's Dreams", the purpose of which is to honor the memory of every child who died as a result of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. As of July 14, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General, it is known about 561 children killed by Russia, as well as at least 1,460 wounded.

So, on July 13, in the city of Irpin, in the Kyiv region, named paradise apple trees were planted, which are a symbol of the project, in memory of the five minors who died during the temporary occupation of the city, as well as those children whose lives were taken by massive shelling on Monday, July 8. Currently, the Irpin Alley has 25 trees.

"We show our national unity, respect, honor, and memory that will never be forgotten or forgiven. The project is vital so that this topic is not just remembered, that we return to it every time, and know that we will not give up and will carry this memory through the years.", — said Hanna Krysyuk, head of the "Greening of Ukraine" charity fund.

The event's initiators were Alyona Nazarenko, director of the BF "For Ukrainians", Angela Makeeva, secretary of the Irpin City Council, and Yaroslava Boyarkina, a member of the Business Woman Club.

Tree planting continues all over Ukraine because the task of the project is to popularize this movement, accustom young people to eco-awareness, and make September 1 a tradition to commemorate children during solemn events. In general, the organizers plan to plant more than 500 paradise apple trees in Makarov, Kyiv region, and thousands throughout Ukraine.

The location for landing in the Grove of Children's Dreams is symbolic since the village of Makariv was under Russian occupation for more than a month. Makarov Oblast suffered destruction in the period from February 27 to April 1, inclusive. It was through the Makariv community that the front line passed. Today, there are already 300 trees growing there, including those planted by families who lost relatives. In addition, Paradise apple trees are planted by various communities, cultural and educational institutions, so, in general, more than 1,000 trees are already growing in Ukraine in memory of the children who died as a result of the full-scale invasion.

By the way, during the planting of trees, a Ukrainian record was set — the longest "Unity Towel" with the state symbols of all regions of Ukraine, the length of which reaches 27 meters and 41 centimeters, and the width is 1.5 meters.

"We need to have such an alley in our city — an alley of memory for every little angel whose life was cut short by the war, and we have no right to forget what Russia has done and is doing. That is why, in addition to landing and setting a Ukrainian record, today we initiated fundraising for 100 HPV drones for our military on the front lines.", — said Angela Makeeva, secretary of the Irpin City Council.
