The "Grove of Children's Dreams" appeared in the Bucha district: 100 trees planted in memory of child victims of war
The initiative is being implemented by the teams of 1+1 media, Breakfast with 1+1 and TSN, together with the Greening of Ukraine charity foundation.
Unfortunately, the number of child casualties during Russia's great war against Ukraine is growing. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, as of November 2024, there are 586 children killed by Russia and at least 1679 wounded. 1+1 media and the Greening of Ukraine Charitable Foundation, together with partners, continue to plant trees as a symbol of the eternal memory of children whose lives were cut short by war and to remind the world of the crimes committed by Russia on our territories.
The next landing took place on 9 November in the Bucha district of Kyiv region and was dedicated to 5 children of different ages who died during the temporary occupation of the region. The event took place on the territory of Kozintsevskaya gymnasium.
‘This initiative is important for creating a culture of remembrance. That is why, together with our ideological partners, we are doing everything possible to consolidate as many people as possible around this topic, both in Ukraine and abroad. We want the memory of Ukrainian children whose lives were taken by the enemy to grow with the roots of paradise apple trees through the centuries. This project should never have happened, but unfortunately, our reality is different...’ says Yana Lyakhovych, Head of Corporate and Integrated Communications at 1+1 media.
A whole grove of 100 trees has appeared near the gymnasium, with the help of representatives of the Greening of Ukraine charity and the local community.
‘Unfortunately, many children died in Ukraine. We want their memory to be immortalised. I am grateful to 1+1 media for paying attention to this every time, we plant trees almost every month, and other countries are already joining this movement. This project is becoming international and it is very important to us that it not only restores the ecosystem of the earth, but also serves as a reason to talk about the genocide in Ukraine and the fact that innocent children are dying,’ said Hanna Krysiuk, head of the Greening of Ukraine charity foundation.
The initiative was also supported in Slovenia, where trees in memory of Ukrainian children were planted on this day. In total, various countries joined the planting, including Germany, Poland, Belgium, and Canada.
