Gala Premieres at the 15th Odesa International Film Festival

It includes national and international films that will soon be released.

"The Witch of Konotop", dir. Andriy Kolesnyk, 2024

A special exclusive screening of the revenge film, the feature directorial debut of Andrii Kolesnyk. Iryna Kostyuk became the producer of the film. Distributor: FILM.UA Distribution. According to the plot, an ancient witch from Konotop martyrs a squad of racist occupiers who killed her lover. Overwhelmed by the thirst for revenge, the witch begins her bloody path of retribution. Each subsequent death is more cruel than the previous one - the witch revels in the hellish pain of her abusers, but will she be able to resist the darkness that engulfs her and stay on the side of the light?

"Dog on Trial" ("People vs. Cosmo"), dir. Letitia Dosh, 2024

The legal dramedy, which premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival, marks the directorial debut of the actress who plays lawyer April in the film. April agrees to defend Cosmo, a dog that bit three people, leading to the first ever dog trial. The main character has no choice but to win the case, otherwise her atypical client will face execution. The film raises the question of the relationship between humans and animals. "Kinds of Kindness", dir. Yorgos Lanthimos, 2024

This is a triptych parable consisting of different stories. The first story is about a man trying to take control of his own life. The second is about a policeman. He worries that his wife, who returned after disappearing at sea, has become a completely different person. And the third story tells about a woman who set out to find a special person with unique abilities and the sole purpose of being an outstanding spiritual leader. The premiere of the film took place at the Cannes Film Festival. Distributor: Kinomania Film Distribution.

"Le Comte de Monte-Cristo" ("The Count of Monte Cristo"), dir. Alexandre de La Patellier, Mathieu Delaporte, 2024

An adventure saga based on the famous novel of the same name by Alexander Dumas. It tells the story of a young man, Edmond Dantes, who was illegally imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. After 14 years in prison, the hero organizes an escape, and life turns so that he returns to France obscenely rich. Taking several names, one of which is the "Count of Monte Cristo", Edmond seeks revenge on his offenders... The film premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Distributor: Green Light Films.

"The Substance" ("Substance"), dir. Korali Farzha, 2024

The film premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival. According to the plot, Elizabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore) - a real superstar and winner of the "Oscar" - hosts an incredibly popular fitness show, until the producer decides that it is time for an early "retirement". And then "Substance" appears in Elizabeth's life - a mysterious drug for cell replication that temporarily creates a younger, better version of a person. This is how the beautiful Sue (Margaret Qualley) is born. The consequences of the existence of two women with one consciousness become very unpredictable... Distributor: Adastra Cinema.

The 15th Odesa International Film Festival will be held from July 12 to 20, 2024 in the city of Kyiv.
