Kyivstar TV awarded the winner of Work in Progress competition during the closing of the 15th Odesa International Film Festival

During the closing ceremony of the 15th Odesa International Film Festival, Head of Content at Kyivstar TV's cinema and television platform, Maryna Kaplun, presented the winner of the Work in Progress competition with a cash prize of 50,000 UAH. The award was received by director and producer Anton Shtuka.

On Saturday, July 20, the grand closing ceremony of the 15th Odesa International Film Festival took place at the Parkovy Congress and Exhibition Center in Kyiv. The jury recognized the winners of the national and international competitions, as well as the winners of Work in Progress — a competition for projects in the final stages of filming or in post-production.

One of the winners, recognized by the jury, was Ukrainian director and producer Anton Shtuka. For his documentary film "The Last Prometheus of Donbas", he received a prize from Kyivstar TV in the amount of 50,000 UAH. The award was presented by Maryna Kaplun, Head of Content at Kyivstar TV, who was also a jury member this year, with the platform serving as an informational partner of the OIFF.

"We strongly support young creators and see the future of Ukrainian cinematography as grand, making the whole world proud of us. Anton Shtuka has created a powerful and extraordinary work, not afraid to go through very difficult conditions," — commented Maryna Kaplun.

In turn, Anton Shtuka noted that his film is about true warriors of light — the workers of the Kurakhivska TPP in Donetsk region.

“We experience power outages every day. The film is about the power plant workers who are under constant shelling but continue to work — bringing light to people. I believe this project is very relevant, so I'm glad it was recognized”, — said the director and producer Anton Shtuka.

Furthermore, Maryna Kaplun mentioned that Kyivstar TV systematically supports Ukrainian filmmakers, that is why it is beginning to work on creating its own original content.

“We have already started working on creating originals. These will be creative projects. We will be able to share more details later”, — announced Maryna Kaplun.

We should note that the 15th Odesa International Film Festival took place from July 12 to 20 in Kyiv. Its main media partner was 1+1 media.
