Maria Glushkova, intern at the Finance Department
Maria told us how she fulfilled her long-held dream on her first day at Plus, what tasks she has been performing during her internship and what personal transformations she has undergone during this time.
On choosing a career path
I graduated last year with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Audit from the Kharkiv National University of Economics named after S. Kuznets. Now I am continuing my studies at the same university, but at the master's level, in another educational programme, Finance and Credit, which will complement my first one.
I am doing an internship in the Finance Department, in the Management Reporting Division, as a financial analyst, which is related to my speciality. During my internship, I realised that the knowledge I had gained at university was quite basic, but it helped me with my job interview tasks and some of the work programmes were already familiar to me.
I remember how pleasantly surprised I was to receive the first call from the HR manager, I didn't even expect to be called back so soon after submitting my CV. Of course, I was very happy, I finally had my chance to join the 1+1 media team. The next step was a test task and an interview in the office, before which I was very nervous, but I was looking forward to meeting them.
My first day of internship started with a tour of the office and a story about the company. It was a long-standing dream of mine and the most exciting event since the start of the full-scale war to get into the TSN studio, see the space where famous and talented people work, look into the office of "Breakfast with 1+1" and immediately see Yegor Gordeev there. In addition, the course "Closer to TV", which is available in the corporate e-university, helped me to get acquainted with the internal processes. In particular, the course provides information about the company's values, the rules of corporate interaction, how television is measured, its media indicators, and how the dubbing studio works, as well as management and control of processes in the studios of TSN and Breakfast with 1+1.
Impressions of the internship
I started receiving tasks from the very beginning, so I didn't get bored and immediately started to get into the work. I work mainly in Excel, and the tasks I am given are different, but all of them, of course, are related to databases and numbers. I really liked the task related to counting the number of dubbed episodes of cartoons I know, which reminded me of my childhood.
And it's very gratifying when I realise that I'm helping my colleagues with their work, and they have more time to complete urgent tasks. And I gain important work experience from this, because in practice it is all new to me.
I think I am very lucky with my mentor and team. They are young, professional people who always explain the details of a task with respect and patience and share their experience. I also get interesting knowledge from them, so to speak, "tricks" that make it easier to work with computers and speed up the process of doing work. For me, the team you work with is a very important criterion that makes you feel comfortable at work and happy to go to the office.
On inspiration and advice for future interns
"First of all, I am inspired by the fact that I got to 1+1 media, which was my dream because I have been following the media sector since childhood. I never thought that I would ever get here and be part of such a team. It was something unreal! So, when I see people I know and have been interested in, it certainly cheers me up and inspires me. I am also inspired by the work I have done, when I am satisfied that I have done a good job and helped, and when I see my development.
I was also influenced by the internship programme because I was finally able to put my knowledge and speciality into practice, it was my first work experience. I had uncertainty and a little bit of excitement that someday I might be disappointed in my profession, but so far I am satisfied and confident that I made the right choice.

I advise future interns not to be afraid to apply, because it is a chance to try their hand at putting their knowledge into practice. It is better to try than to regret. But also be prepared to work, give your time and energy, and absorb useful information.
