For the Restoration of the "Superhero School" in Okhmatdyt Destroyed by Russian Missiles: How to Join the Donation

Today, July 8, as a result of another missile attack by the Russians, the classroom and library of the "School of Superheroes" educational center of the State University, which was located on the territory of the "Okhmatdit" children's hospital in the capital, were destroyed. During the shelling, the department and the hospital itself, along with its small patients, were also damaged. More than 1,000 children studied at the School all the time, and they had to undergo treatment in a hospital. "Okhmatdyt" is the first hospital where the project was launched and the first educational unit of the state institution was created.

1+1 media, as the general media partner, together with the curator and head of the project's board of trustees, host of 1+1 Marathon Nataliya Moseychuk, announce a collection of 1 million hryvnias for the restoration of the "School of Superheroes" classroom and library. The charitable foundation "Solomyanski kotyky" helps in organizing the donation.

"Our first cell, built according to all standards, was destroyed - everyone from the team put their heart into it. The same with the library, we waited a long time for the building to be completed - it was a huge space for books. There were also classes, round tables, and interactive meetings. In fact, the Russians give us motivation with such crimes - because we are absolutely convinced that we will make the new class even better, bigger and more modern.

Today, my team and I had to go to other cities of Ukraine to choose new locations for the Schools. In Zhytomyr, we just agreed that a hospital wing would be allocated for the new educational corner of the project — and as soon as we learned about the terrible consequences of the shelling, we returned to Kyiv to help the victims," commented Natalia Moseichuk, host of 1+1 Marathon, on the terrorist actions of the Russian Federation , interviewer.

"School of Superheroes" is a state institution since 2022, founded by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine thanks to the support of the Office of the President and the First Lady. Currently, there are 17 educational centers of the State University of Ukraine operating in Ukraine, which ensure the right to education of children undergoing inpatient treatment in different parts of the country.

"Today, the first class in Ohmadit, which began the history of the scaling of the Superhero Schools network, was completely destroyed. The library and a classroom for preschoolers were also damaged. Superhero schools are hospital-based schools that provide education to critically ill children on dialysis, cancer, HIV/AIDS and more.

But the damaged premises are not the main thing. The main thing is that the children in the classrooms and the employees were not injured. The rubble continues to be dismantled. And no matter how much rage fills us now, we have to fight on. We will restore not only this class, but also continue to build the network," said Yevgenia Smirnova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine and founder of the School of Superheroes.

"Today, a school classroom was destroyed, where children studied, left their "palms", stars - wishes. Modern interactive complexes were destroyed, twenty thousand textbooks, furniture, tablets were damaged. We were fully prepared for the 2024-2025 academic year. We provided the children with educational literature and textbooks - all this was in the library. But we know for sure that we will save a happy childhood, win and rebuild an even better "School of Superheroes" in Okhmatdyt," added Nataliya Zhilinska, acting director of the School of Superheroes.
