"Learned to be sincere"

My name is Serhiy Shkapa. I work as a news anchor on a political TV channel. The work is interesting and quite intense. However, it is surprisingly rarely associated with positivity. You yourself understand, then who stole something, then who ran away somewhere - a complete criminal. This kind of thing is exhausting. Also, after learning about the start of training on the course of entertainment presenters, he took it as a signal to act. I have not tried myself in a similar format yet.

Colleagues did not immediately understand such a choice. They are used to seeing me in a kind of "case": jacket, shirt and tie. Besides, they said: what can they teach me there... But, I still took a risk. Took a risk and did not regret it. It turns out that news and entertainment shows are like parallel worlds on television. If in the first you have to state the facts dryly, with a serious expression, then in the second - you simply have to always be positive. But it is not difficult. After all, talking about baby cheetahs from the American city of Fort Royal showing small teeth - you have no right not to smile.

However, this situation was not immediate. As I remember now, I went to the first three-day module as a great skeptic. The thought did not leave me: "What can they tell me there during the whole day, until six in the evening?! And so, in total, almost a month!". On the first day, I realized that I was wrong. And I will definitely not waste time here. A lot of new. I even became a little ashamed that I work on television and do not know so much.

I do not touch the terminology. The devil will break his leg there. However, the elementary shows and series that come to my TV every day, turns out to be a whole science!!! Here is the bible of the format, and horizontal and vertical storylines... Trouble, in a word. And it was just a theory...

Eventually, when my shame left, the questions began and, as a result, the real learning began.

It did not go smoothly. Acting skills and diction exercises were thrown off track. "I'm not a theater person! I just need to be able to speak into the camera," I thought at first. Surprisingly, in difficult and nervous moments, support appeared in the faces of my fellow students. There was no competition between us. After all, everyone came here for something of their own. On the contrary, despite our different ages and radically different professions and preferences, we united in a common goal - to learn something new. After several failures, "Don't be afraid of mistakes and move forward" became my credo. I began to give up the "cases" that kept me in my comfort zone. By the way, it helped a lot when practice started. And it's seventy percent there, for a second. I discovered for myself: pitchings, TEDs, tracts, American stand-ups, blogs, vlogs, vox pops, hop-stops... But no, hop-stop was discovered by Borschahivka. Let her be Greek. A three-minute master class from the guys there cost me like a four-month study at Plyus. We move on. In short, already after the second block of study, even colleagues from work stated: the Higher School of Media & Production, after all, is driving. In the same news, I became more convincing and natural. I'll tell you in secret that I started to love the camera. He began to speak sincerely to her. After all, I saw you in her, dear viewer. Got rid of the so-called "talking head" effect.

As for the promised star teachers in the training announcement, everything is not so simple here. At the Higher School of Media & Production, the concept of stardom is slightly different from the generally accepted one. Here, those who have reached great heights in their professional activities are considered stars. And this is not the same as popular. All the better. The open talk format made it possible to communicate "without bills" with extremely talented media people. Although, there are also many popular ones here. What are they worth: Anatolich, Senichkin, Vitvitska, Gorbunov and Komarov. And this is far from the whole list. However, I personally liked our curators the most. Young and active correspondents, without being shy, revealed all their professional secrets. I will reveal such mysteries only to my own students.

That's how this entire star-professional team creates the unique content that brings 1+1 to the top TV channels. By the way, we were also told about the ratings and target audience. But that's another story. In the finale of my first ever blog, I confess: for me personally, the course "Hosts of entertainment shows" opened another, positive, side of television. Training gave a new impetus to development in professional activity. And now, if possible, I will try to connect my career with positive content. Since I have already been taught sincerity, I will add: it would be nice to return to 1+1 as a member of that team. However, everything has its time.

PS If you expected me to reveal secrets from behind the scenes, then I will answer: these are not secrets. Everything happens every day on the air of entertainment shows. In particular, such as "Breakfast with 1+1". Those professionals who trained us for 4 months, those on and off the screen form a single organism. It is called an entertainment show. It is impossible to explain. This cannot be taught. It comes with experience! The Higher School of Media & Production has plenty of such products.
