"Educational Dialogues" in Odessa: Why Teacher Support is About the Future
On April 28, the event "Educational Dialogues" was held at Odessa Gymnasium No. 26, which was a continuation of the start of the season of the national award Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2025. The event brought together educators from the region to discuss the challenges facing Ukrainian schools today.
The program was rich and inspiring. Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2024 finalist Oleksandr Dumyshenets held a workshop on creating chatbots using artificial intelligence, where he showed how technology can work for the benefit of education and reduce the routine of a teacher. “Being part of a community means being among those who change the future through resilience and inspiration. My pillar as a teacher is to support students regardless of circumstances, help them see their own success and believe in their strengths. In my workshop, I want to give not only knowledge, but also confidence and understanding of how these tools will make learning easier and more convenient,” Oleksandr shares.
Yevhen Kravchenko, the winner in the “Choice with the Heart” nomination, shared approaches to learning in conditions of instability — how to identify educational losses, adapt tasks, and not lose the quality of learning even in the most difficult times.
“Emotional connection is the basis of trust and growth. If a teacher believes in a student, he is capable of the incredible. Sometimes a child’s smile is already a victory. This is where real support and restart begin,” Yevhen notes.
The event was concluded with a training from 1+1 media school on teacher self-presentation as a tool for building trust in the student community. After all, a confident, authentic image of a teacher forms openness in relationships with children, colleagues, and parents.
“Today, a teacher is not just a bearer of knowledge, but a voice of values and a guide in times of uncertainty. Being visible is not about fame, but about having an influence that is trusted. It starts with sincerity: talking about what is important, sharing what you believe in. I respect teachers even more — each of them has an inner strength that cannot be broken,” says Denis.
The teacher can submit the questionnaire on the website until July 1. Or students, parents and colleagues can do it - there are no restrictions.
The winner will be determined in several stages and announced during the solemn ceremony on International Teachers' Day on October 4.
The winner will receive a prize of 1 million hryvnias for the implementation of their own educational project.
In addition, several winners are planned in additional nominations, such as "Mathematics Teacher" or "STEM Teacher".
Also, everyone will be able to vote for the favorite in the "Choice of Ukrainians" nomination on the Diya.Osvita platform.
