Clarification of the 1+1 media group regarding the coding of TV channels on the satellite

Today, February 28, 2020, the leaders of leading Ukrainian media groups met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided: to ensure the launch of non-encoded satellite international versions of nationwide TV channels of media groups by March 16, 2020; ensure the expansion of T2 digital television coverage; satellite television operators to develop social packages of satellite television with a minimum subscription fee.

The majority of mass media interpreted the first point as the final decision on the full decoding of TV channels on the satellite. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the official website of the President of Ukraine does not refer to the decoding of satellite TV channels, but to the launch by March 16, 2020 of unencoded international satellite versions of nationwide TV channels of leading media groups.

It was agreed that four international versions of TV channels should be launched by the specified date. As of today, two of them, namely the international version of the TV channel "1+1" ("1+1 international ") and "Inter" ("Inter+"), already broadcast on satellite, thus providing Ukrainian citizens with access to current news

In view of the goal of providing citizens living in the territories along the contact line and temporarily occupied territories with free access to Ukrainian television, the program grids of international versions of TV channels will be revised in the near future, taking into account the restrictions on the availability of the content of the main versions of the channel for international distribution. This means that the programming network of these TV channels will not completely duplicate the network of coded broadcasters and will include only those television products whose broadcasting in open access will be agreed with the content rights holders.
