Looking for the most talented teacher: Global Teacher Prize Ukraine will choose the best teacher in the "Preschool" nomination for the third time

Osvitoria, together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and UNICEF, are looking for a teacher who can transform a kindergarten into a place where a child feels confident, heard and happy. We remind you that 1+1 media is the general media partner of the award.

“For the third year in a row, within the framework of the Global Teacher Prize, there is a separate nomination for preschool teachers - and this is truly a landmark event. After all, a teacher, along with other teachers, has the opportunity to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, care and daily support for the most precious thing - our children. I thank the Osvitoria team and UNICEF for making this nomination a good tradition. It is extremely important that society properly evaluates the work of teachers - people who lay the foundation for the future every day. This nomination is one of the ways to increase the prestige of the profession of a preschool teacher. I am sincerely glad that today all of Ukraine sees the successes of the best educators and applauds them,” says Anastasia Konovalova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

According to a survey conducted by UNICEF, 4 out of 10 children aged 3–6 in Ukraine do not have regular access to preschool education. The main reasons are the destruction or closure of kindergartens, lack of shelters and other safety risks.

The study also shows another worrying factor – the low level of parents’ trust in others regarding their child’s safety. This creates additional barriers for the return of children to their usual environment of development and socialization.

“UNICEF is proud to support the “Preschool” nomination for the third year in a row, recognizing dedicated and inspired educators of preschool institutions who play an extremely important role in the development of young children. Providing the best start in life through safe and exciting early learning is the key to unlocking the potential of every child throughout their lives,” said Munir Mammadzadeh, Head of UNICEF Ukraine.

The teacher who wins the “Preschool” nomination will receive 500,000 hryvnias to implement their own educational project and join the community of innovators shaping the future of Ukrainian education.

“We are used to talking about school, but we often forget that it is in kindergarten that the foundation of all further education is laid. Today, when some preschool institutions are damaged or out of operation due to war, and parents are forced to look for alternatives, this topic becomes even more painful. Preschool is the first experience of socialization, emotional development and security. And if we do not take care of this now, we will lose not only time, but also the potential of an entire generation. "That's why our special nomination is not only about recognition, but also about recognizing the importance of every teacher who holds this foundation of education on their shoulders every day," says Zoya Lytvyn, head of Osvitoria and founder of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine.
