TV channels UNIAN TV and 1+1 International started broadcasting on an open satellite

Yesterday, March 1, 2020, the TV channel of the 1+1 media group, "1+1 international", started a test broadcast in an unencoded form from the SES Astra 4A satellite. Its launch took place as part of the implementation of agreements between media groups and the President of Ukraine, reached during the meeting held on February 28, 2020, which was devoted to discussing the possibility of broadcasting unencoded satellite versions of the main Ukrainian TV channels for the population of the region along the contact line and temporarily occupied territories.

Thus, the TV channel "1+1 International" is already available for free viewing by satellite subscribers in the MPEG-2/DVB-S format. These parameters are supported by all FTA reception tuners, and therefore, since yesterday, all satellite subscribers have been able to freely receive the channel signal throughout the satellite's coverage area, including in Crimea and the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

At the same time, on the same satellite, SES Astra 4A, the group launched a test open version of the information and analytical TV channel "UNIAN TV", which until March 1 spoke in the more progressive DVB-S2/MPEG-4 format. Both TV channels took places on the 12,130 MHz transponder, from which the Ukraine and NLO TV channels used to broadcast.

Please note that the "UNIAN TV" channel is currently changing its program concept and excludes entertainment television products from its content, focusing exclusively on informational and analytical broadcasting, which allows the channel to speak on an open satellite and inform viewers about current news. This will be reflected in the channel license shortly.

"The channel is in test mode, but it can already be viewed by satellite subscribers. Currently, the group is preparing documents for making changes to the channel's license, after receiving which UNIAN TV will be able to broadcast in normal mode and with updated programming," comments Yaroslav Pakholchuk, general director of the 1+1 media group .
