1+1 Media anchors Natalia Moseychuk and Oleksandr Prepodobny were "convicted" in absentia in Russia

Russia has repeatedly tried to illegally "prosecute" Ukrainian journalists, presenters, and activists, accusing them of "inciting hatred, enmity, and spreading false information" about their regime.

This time, it became known that on July 29, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow "sentenced" in absentia the host of 1+1 Media TV projects, Oleksandr Prepodobny, to eight years in prison for so-called "fakes" about the army. He is also banned from administering websites for four years after serving his sentence. The reason for this was an interview that political scientist and publicist Abbas Gallyamov gave the host in April 2022 on the YouTube channel "Money." According to the Russian investigation, Abbas, speaking about the shelling of Kramatorsk and the destruction of civilian infrastructure and killing of civilians there, disseminated "false information" about the actions of Russian troops. Abbas Gallyamov was also sentenced to a similar sentence.

"The so-called Basmanny Court of Moscow found me guilty of 'fakes about the Russian army' and decided that I should serve eight years in prison. The "charges" relate to an interview with the opposition political analyst Abbas Gallyamov. I recorded this interview more than two years ago. At that time, the Russians hit the Kramatorsk station with a "Tochka U" missile, which killed 61 people and injured 121. It's funny, but I was even defended by a "lawyer" in a Moscow court. In short, I will not bask in the sun of Gelendzhik, enjoy a pancake from a shovel in Kostroma, and, worst of all, I will not get to the mausoleum, although... Thank you for the recognition. Glory to Ukraine!", commented Oleksandr Prepodobny.

Furthermore, on July 31, Judge Yevgenia Kozlova of the Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced 1+1 Marathon anchor and interviewer Natalia Moseychuk to five years in prison in absentia for "inciting hatred and enmity." Natalia was also "banned" from administering websites for four years.

"It's clear that these insignificant Russian 'courts' have no force in the civilized world. Their goal is to intimidate and show all Ukrainians that the Russians will get to everyone. They can, if we tremble and forget the repeated destruction of our statehood, the Holodomor, the humiliation of Ukrainians, the execution of our elite, forced Russification, the rape of women and children, the murders in Bucha, Izium, Mariupol, the shelling of Okhmatdyt, the nightly drone and missile attacks on us, and ten years of war. One day, Russia will collapse. Ukrainians were destined to survive then, and we will survive now," commented Natalia Moseychuk.

As a reminder, the so-called case against Natalia Moseychuk was initiated because of her broadcast of March 20, 2022, in which she responded to reports of another bombing of Ukraine by reminding the Russian military and their families of their responsibility.

"Such actions of the Russian Federation show only one thing - its weakness and powerlessness. They are trying to destroy everything that goes against the Kremlin's propaganda. The position of 1+1 Media will always remain unchanged. The company, together with its employees, journalists, and hosts, will continue to do everything possible to counter Russian manipulations and outright lies. We will continue to tell the truth about Russia’s crimes in our territories, and such "accusations" from the "swamps" only confirm that we are on the right track," commented 1+1 Media.

1+1 Media will continue to draw the world's attention to the return to Ukraine of all Ukrainian prisoners of war and all persons illegally detained by Russia, including UNIAN correspondent Dmytro Khilyuk, who was abducted on March 3, 2022, in the village of Kozarovichi, Vyshgorod district of Kyiv region, from the yard of his own home and subsequently taken to Russia.
