LET'S MAKE UKRAINE CLEAN TOGETHER ON WORLD CLEANUP DAY!
While Russian occupiers attempt to take away our independence and sovereignty, destroy our heritage and environment, we, Ukrainians, remain unbreakable and continue to defend our country on all fronts. Students and citizens are joining forces to maintain ecological defense and promote a culture of cleanliness.
On September 20, 2024, under the slogan "Let's Make Ukraine Clean Together!" across 24 regions, with safety measures and wartime restrictions in place, and taking into account the geographical features of the regions, Ukraine will traditionally join World Cleanup Day, alongside 91 million participants from 211 countries worldwide.
Starting from 2024, World Cleanup Day has been declared an official UN Day, celebrated annually on September 20, and has been added to the calendar of international days and weeks. World Cleanup Day has become the largest peaceful mobilization event in the world and has won the UN SDG Awards ranking. It mobilizes millions through collective action for civil peacebuilding, a sustainable global future, and the fight against solid waste.
The main goal is to cultivate a culture of cleanliness, proper waste management, and responsible consumption among citizens, uniting efforts for an ecological future.
Participants will include citizens, commercial and non-commercial organizations, companies, and government institutions, whose employees will join in various formats under the framework of corporate social responsibility, as well as media and opinion leaders.
For educational institutions, a contest has begun. You can learn more about the participation conditions in the regulations at the following link: https://cutt.ly/nflKgaR.
Important information: Please review the instructions and recommendations in the news section on the website letsdoitukraine.org, and if necessary, communicate with regional coordinators.
Participants are urged not to form large gatherings and to participate only in cleanups at locations recommended and authorized by local authorities, after undergoing safety training and seeking shelter during air raid alerts.
The nationwide youth movement "Let’s Do It Ukraine," together with the military, has developed special mine and explosive safety instructions specifically for World Cleanup Day, which are important for everyone to know! More details can be found at this link: https://letsdoitukraine.org/2024/08/ldu-bezpeka-wcd-2024/.
Participation formats:
- Individual and family cleanups.
- Group cleanups on the premises of institutions and organizations: The number of participants in a group should be limited, and the area must be inspected by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine for safety. In the event of an air raid alert, all participants must immediately take shelter.
- Traditional cleanups: Allowed only in locations recommended by local authorities.
- Digital Cleanup (online): Involves deleting unnecessary information from your devices, cloud storage, electronic, and internet resources. This will help reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Register your results on the website letsdoitukraine.org/digitalcleanup.
- Formation of the National Map of Recycling Points at recyclingpoints.org: "Find, Sort, Recycle"—encouraging sorting recyclable materials and sending them for processing.
- Clearing debris.
- Ukrainians abroad are also invited to join: Organize online or offline cleanups, participate in international events, express gratitude to host cities, and support your hometown from afar by registering your results.
We encourage you not only to join this global initiative but also to register your participation results on the international website planetheroes.pl/worldcleanupday and via this link: https://forms.gle/zjQtrZoL3KXZ5hP18 by September 25, 2024.
