Liberated Cities: 1+1 media implements a campaign of solidarity and recovery

Since May 2023, 1+1 media has been implementing the Liberated Cities communication campaign with the support of the Smart Angel charity organisation

Since May 2023, 1+1 media has been implementing the Liberated Cities communication campaign with the support of the Smart Angel charity organisation. The aim of the project is to strengthen ties with Ukrainians who survived the temporary occupation of Russia and experienced all the horrors of war.
"Now, when the Defence Forces are destroying the enemy and liberating the temporarily occupied territories, Ukrainians who survived the occupation need special support and understanding. This process is important for building trust in the liberated communities and for further restoring their emotional state," the project authors comment.

Thus, as part of the campaign, special materials are being prepared that demonstrate the realities of Ukrainians' lives under temporary occupation, reveal special technologies used by Russia for manipulation, etc. In particular, the first publication under the initiative was a review by UNIAN of the work of Russian propaganda in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions during the occupation. The article describes how the invaders used methods of information manipulation and distortion of facts to justify the war and influence local residents. Experts from the Centre for Strategic Communications explained when the occupiers' propaganda methods do not work in Ukraine.

According to the authors of the project, in the future, other important topics will be covered on the UNIAN website and social media on the humanitarian challenges that Ukrainians have to overcome under occupation, the needs of residents of the de-occupied territories, and options for solving them. Human rights activists and officials will tell what help victims of war crimes can receive and how to bring the perpetrators to justice, what compensation and assistance they can expect.

At the same time, the Breakfast with 1+1 programme on 1+1 Ukraine and TET TV channels broadcasts monthly stories called War Diaries, which are true stories of people who have survived the occupation. These personal diaries are testimonies of residents of the occupied and frontline territories, first-hand accounts of the horrors of war, the courage and resilience of Ukrainians to find the strength to move on after the trials of occupation.
For example, we have already aired the story of a resident of Kherson who preserved the Ukrainian flag during the occupation by burying it in the ground. It was only after the Russians fled the city that the flag was put up again. You can watch the story about the occupation, the joy of liberation and changes in her life in the video at this link.
